the alchemist
It’d been long since the last time I spent my day browsing and buying something from kino, as since December my day in KLCC seems to end late. Even my routine walk during lunch time etc. didn’t happen that much. Something has changed, I guess. No books, magazines etc.
The Alchemist caught my attention as I was browsing the stack of books that they put on the walk to the fiction and literature section. While reading few quotes and one that comparing it as memorable as St-Exupery’s Little Prince, my guts telling me this could be something worth reading. It doesn’t has to be as thick as my unfinished Cold Mountain, to get book praised by Kenzaburo Oe, Madonna and even Spencer Johnson.
And it is a pleasantly memorable and meaningful work to be appreciated. I’ve to admit that I could easily drowned while trying to understand what lies beneath the journey of little prince, but Santiago’s journey in finding his personal legend much easier to be interpreted by my mind. Yet, I’m not downgrading Exupery’s work by mentioning this.
Each page of the book took me to ride the journey with Santiago It taught how much dreams and hopes mean in life and everything happens for reasons as what lies in front of Santiago’s path towards his treasure. May be it sounds cliché as there might be thousand works talk about this, but not each able to convey us what it should’ve been. The book managed to convey the message to me, may be not others. Everybody has their own way, seeing things.
